Fundraiser Item Delivery - If your child sold items for the Fall Fundraiser, those will be delivered on Friday, October 26th. Please make arrangements to help get those home of your child will have a lot of items!
It’s getting cold! We are still going outside for recess even as it gets chilly, so please be sure your child is bringing a coat to school every day.
1st Grade Homework: We have begun sharing our All About Me projects and are having so much fun learning more about each! Thank you so much for all the help and support at home - they are awesome!!
2nd Grade Homework: The information and guidelines for our first homework project can be found on the Homework Tab above. The focus is Careers and we thank you in advance for all of your support at home in helping your child complete the requirements and prepare to present to the class! If you have any questions or need anything, please don’t hesitate to let us know! All projects are due no later than Friday, Oct. 19th.
October Birthdays The October Birthday Celebration will be Friday, Oct. 26th. If your child has an October birthday and you would like to send treats, please let his/her teacher know!
This Week at Thunder Valley…
1st Grade Reading
We are continuing to read It’s Back to School We Go. We are noticing what time of year the children go to school, what they study, what they play and what they eat.
1st Grade Writing
We are using a graphic organizer called a double bubble to compare and contrast the experiences of the children from our text and then we’re using those to help us write about similarities and
differences.
2nd Grade Reading
We are continuing to read On the Farm. We are noticing the features in this type of text that help us understand the information. We have noticed the table of contents, headings, bold words, photos with captions and the glossary.
2nd Grade Writing
We are writing informational paragraphs to explain main ideas and supporting details from our text.
1st Grade Math
We’re working hard on learning our basic addition facts through 20. Your continued help with this at home is greatly appreciated!!
2nd Grade Math
We have been working on a variety of different strategies to add two numbers within 100. We took our Topic assessment this week and will move ahead with looking at the most efficient strategies to solve these problems fluently.
1st Grade Social Studies
We’re continuing our work with maps and globes, focusing on using a map key and compass rose.
2nd Grade Social Studies
We are beginning the Economics portion of our Communities unit with a focus on Needs and Wants and Financial Decision Making.

Tarea de segundo grado La información y las pautas para nuestro primer proyecto de tarea se pueden encontrar en la pestaña Tarea de tareas arriba. El enfoque es Carreras y le agradecemos de antemano por todo su apoyo en el hogar para ayudar a su hijo a completar los requisitos y prepararse para presentar a la clase. Continuamos leyendo Es Regreso a la escuela Nos vamos. Estamos notando en qué época del año los niños van a la escuela, qué estudian, qué juegan y qué comen.
Escritura de 1er grado
Estamos utilizando un organizador gráfico llamado burbuja doble para comparar y contrastar las experiencias de los niños de nuestro texto y luego las estamos utilizando para ayudarnos a escribir sobre similitudes y diferencias.
Lectura de segundo grado
Continuamos leyendo en la granja. Estamos notando las características en este tipo de texto que nos ayudan a entender la información. Hemos notado la tabla de contenido, los encabezados, las palabras en negrita, las fotos con títulos y el glosario.
Escritura de segundo grado
Estamos escribiendo párrafos informativos para explicar las ideas principales y los detalles de apoyo de nuestro texto.
Matemáticas de 1er grado
Estamos trabajando arduamente para aprender nuestros datos básicos de suma hasta el 20. ¡¡Su ayuda continua con esto en casa es muy apreciada !!
Matemáticas de segundo grado
Hemos estado trabajando en una variedad de estrategias diferentes para sumar dos números dentro de 100. Tomamos nuestra evaluación del tema esta semana y seguiremos avanzando para ver las estrategias más eficaces para resolver estos problemas con fluidez.
Estudios sociales de 1er grado
Continuamos nuestro trabajo con mapas y globos, enfocándonos en usar una tecla de mapa y una brújula.
Estudios sociales de segundo grado
Estamos comenzando la parte de Economía de nuestra unidad de Comunidades con un enfoque en Necesidades y Deseos y en la Toma de Decisiones Financieras.
