iReady Assessments Students have worked hard to complete their Spring Math and Reading iReady assessments this week. Watch for your child’s results coming home soon!
100 Mile Club We’ve added two additional practice days before our final celebration on the 13th! Friday, May 3rd and 10th will also have afternoon sessions from 3:30-4:30.

This Week at Thunder Valley…
1st Grade Reading
We are continuing our learning about The Statue of Liberty and the immigrants who first saw her through a new text called Coming to America.
2nd Grade Reading
This week we have been reading a biography called Seeds of Change. It tells the story of Wangari Maathai who was the founder of the Green Belt Movement and a Nobel Peace Prize winner.
1st Grade Writing
We have been writing our opinions about recess, pets, specials and other topics.
2nd Grade Writing
We are back to opinion writing.
1st Grade Math
We are working on identifying, naming and drawing fractions including halves and fourths (quarters).
2nd Grade Math
We’ve begun working on Data and Graphs. This includes line plots, bar graphs and picture graphs.
1st Grade Social Studies
We’ve begun working on our Jobs and Money unit with a focus on businesses that offer goods and services within our neighborhood.
2nd Grade Social Studies
We’re continuing our work with Geography and will soon be researching countries around the world.

Weestán continuando nuestro aprendizaje sobre la estatua de la libertad y de los inmigrantes que se vio por primera vez a través de un nuevo texto llamado Coming to America.
Lectura de 2do grado
Esta semana hemos estado leyendo una biografía llamada Seeds of Change. Cuenta la historia de Wangari Maathai, quien fue la fundadora del Movimiento Cinturón Verde y ganadora del Premio Nobel de la Paz.

Hemos estado escribiendo nuestras opiniones sobre recreo, mascotas, especiales y otros temas.

Estamos trabajando en identificar, nombrar y dibujar fracciones que incluyen mitades y cuartos (trimestres).

Hemos comenzado a trabajar en datos y gráficos. Esto incluye gráficos de líneas, gráficos de barras y gráficos de imágenes.
Estudios Sociales de 1er Grado
Comenzamos a trabajar en nuestra unidad de Empleo y Dinero con un enfoque en las empresas que ofrecen bienes y servicios dentro de nuestro vecindario.

Continuamos nuestro trabajo con Geografía y pronto estaremos investigando países de todo el mundo.
